Building Anticipation: An iPhone/iPad Game Launch Strategy.

As you know, Ingz, Inc. makes powerful mobile applications that leverage our intense data systems. What you might not know is that as talented as our engineers are at making real-time data intense mobile apps (such as online games and live GPS guided tours), we are also developing marketing capabilities to deliver these products effectively to new markets.

So far we’ve worked out many parts of the marketing formula that make for successful iPhone and iPad products… here’s a list of things we do, and why.

  1. Make the RIGHT product. We focus first and foremost on making products that appeal to a very specific (and focused/small) target market, with a chance at appealing to a broader audience.
  2. Build Anticipation with your target market… We do things like manage a massive Fanpage (see Traveller-AR Fanpage), run Forums, go to conferences (such as Comic-Con and SXSW), and post publicly in other forums where we are welcomed.
  3. Charge the right price. With anticipation and a focused target, you can charge a fair price for your product and people who really want it are more than willing to pay for a quality product.
  4. Get great reviews. This happens because early on we focus on our target market who are already predisposed to like us.
  5. Expand.
As we head off to our second event (Comic-Con 2011 #SDCC), we hope to delight Traveller fans, and make a buzz with Pen & Paper gamers. Everyone else may watch… and we’d be delighted if they get interested, but that is purely secondary.

I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Exceptional work!
